LloydsTSB Retirement Club (Birmingham)
Trip to South Lakeland
(continued)
Day 3 began with a visit to Morecambe, the coach dropping us off near the famous statue of Eric Morecambe. Many enjoyed the opportunity
to get some seaside air as they strolled the promenade in the pleasant weather. The Stone Jetty, the RNLI station. the ionic art-deco
Midland Hotel, various coffee shops, and the Festival Market were favoured destinations. On the way back to our hotel, a visit was
made to Grange-over-Sands and its Ornamental Gardens.
The only day of poor weather was on Sunday (Day 4) at Bowness-on-Windermere (below) where a cruise on the lake took us to Ambleside
and back.
Monday's return to the Midlands was beset with traffic problems, but a detour took in some delightful Lake District scenery as we
went via Coniston and Ambleside to reach the M6. After a stop at the Trentham Shopping Village, the coach arrived in Catshill
at 6:30pm.
