Wedgwood Centre and Froghall Canal Trip

The above mentioned trip has been arranged and it is hoped that full support will be given to this "day with a difference"!

A coach has been reserved for us to leave from the Rotunda (Birmingham) at 0945 am to arrive at the Wedgwood Centre by 1105 am. A short film will be shown followed by a visit to the factory and museum. Crafts made at the Centre may be purchased at the Wedgwood Shop. There are limited facilities for the purchase of refreshments but it is suggested that packed lunches be taken for consumption on the journey, if desired.

We leave Wedgwood at 1300 hrs and travel to the Caldon Canal at Froghall Wharf. There, we have arranged to have sole charter of the horse drawn barge for an afternoon cruise through the Churnett Valley. (This valley has no public road access for almost five miles). During the cruise we shall be served with afternoon tea, with scones, jam and cream.

We rejoin the coach again between1700 and 1730 hrs for the homeward journey, and are due back in Birmingham around 1830 hrs.

Friday, August 14th

Shrewsbury Flower Show

Arrangements have now been completed for us to visit the Shrewsbury Flower Show again this year - on Friday 14th August 1987.

The coach will depart from Birmingham (Rotunda) at 10:00 am and we expect to arrive at the show ground by around 11:30 am, to allow a five and a half hour stay at the show.

At 5:00 pm the coach will leave Shrewsbury for the journey to Milford Common, where a meal has been arranged at the Little Fawn Restaurant.

We plan to leave Milford Common at around 7:45 pm, in order to reach Birmingham at 8:30 - 9:00 pm.

Annual Luncheon - Charlecote (The Pheasantry), near Stratford Upon Avon

Arrangements have now been completed for us to visit the Carvery at Charlecote for our Annual Luncheon on Wednesday 23rd September 1987. As last year, the coach will collect at four pick-up points, to enable members to have a shorter journey to and from home.

The pick-up points are

1 Yenton (Wylde Green) 10:00 am

2 Fox and Goose (Ward End) 10:15 am

3 Rotunda (Birmingham) 10:30 am

4 Warwick Cinema (Acocks Green) 10:50 am

We expect to arrive at Charlecote at approximately midday for our meal at 12:30 pm.

At about 2:30 pm, we leave Charlecote for the return journey, via Warwick, and are due back in Birmingham at around 4:30 pm.
